Shopping for the Perfect Neutral Rug

I am SOOOO excited to do a bedroom reveal for you guys. Like, you have no idea. I started buying things for my room months before I even knew where I would be living, I had a very clear vision of how I wanted it to look and feel.

Think soft glam.

At this point I have pretty much everything I need for it but I still have a few big pieces to purchase – a headboard, full length mirror, perfume table, OH AND A RUG.

Let’s just say searching for the perfect rug has been a process in and of itself.

I want it to have a very neutral color palette but I also need it to go with another rug that I already bought for the foot of my bed ($16, holla at Home Goods). The Home Goods rug was a spontaneous purchase but, once I put it at the foot of my bed I knew it was destiny. It just looked too perfect.

I mean look at it, isn’t it gorg?

The Home Goods rug that I am trying to match is the same color palette that I originally envisioned my other rug to be. But, since the pattern on the Home Goods rug is a little busy, I need to find a very simple patterned rug or they will be competing with each other.

A design no-no.

Rug shopping can be overwhelming and expensive so I am going to let you guys in on a little secret…

Whenever I am looking for a large rug, I always go to RugsUSA.com . They have an incredible selection and run crazy sales ALL. THE. TIME. You would honestly have to be the world’s pickiest person to not find something on their site.

Like last week they literally had a 90% off sale. I can’t make this stuff up.

So, before we get into my picks, let’s go over exactly what it is that I am looking for:

  • Either a 4×6 or 5×8 size
  • Neutral color paletter
  • Simple pattern
  • Under $150

When you are buying a statement piece for your home it is ALWAYS smart to make a list of requirements you want/need to meet. It really helps you to make the best decision and get the most out of your purchase.

So now, let’s look at my picks:

Most of the rugs I have chosen have very simple patterns with the exception of number 6 which is very similar to the pattern on my Home Goods rug. Still deciding if I want the rugs to be that matchy-matchy though.

So what do you guys think? Which rug is your favorite? I think I am leaning towards numbers 2, 3, or 5 but I am still undecided so I could really use your opinions. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

And as always, thanks for reading xo

  1. They’re all very pretty…but I think I would go with a bigger more geometric pattern like rugs 2, 4 and 5 to compliment your other rug. But I think they would all look great so there’s no wrong choice! 🙂
